Hey guys!

So I am new to SD and I have been riding Mission bay.  I usually launch from Da Anza.  Is there a boat washout anywhere around there?  Right now, I am driving all the way home, washing out, and then bringing the boat back to the bay to store it!

Thanks!

There is a spray wash right up clairemont drive, just up from De Anza cove.  I'm not sure if they allow boats there or not, but I'm pretty sure I've seen people sneakin some in.

Where are you storing your boat?  What is it?

DaxxRuckus,

The boat is an 02 Sanger V210, just picked it up a couple weeks ago and I am pretty excited about it!  Got a smokin deal on it.  I am storing it right across Mission Bay Dr. (I guess it was an old cadillac dealer)  I got a covered spot in there for a decent price

srfnaked14,

Are you talking about the one by Hidden Anchorage?  That is where I have been washing out and some guy in an RV told me it was a $185 fine for washing out a boat there...i dunno if he was just angry because I got there before him or what!

Thanks alot guys!!

Sounds like Kevins old boat!  Is it blue w/ a blue tower and my old Infiniti tower speakers on it?  Did you pick it up from M20?

haha no, but I went and looked at that one!

This one is yellow with a yellow tower (the tower needs powdercoated)

It has 290 hrs in excellent condition and I picked it up for 10k!  It needed an alternator and starter and now runs like a champ!  Couldnt pass that up!!

How was Kevin weighin his?  I put 400 in each side locker (800 total) and about 450 in the front and the wake was almost too lippy, was he doin more in the front?

I'm not sure, I know Kjo had a couple of locker sacks, maybe 500 each?  He can weigh in here and let us know.

it was a good boat, I just saw it out at el cap on sunday so I know someone bought it.  Still has my Infiniti speakers on the tower - YOU BASTARD Kev! Told you to remove those!

They are good boats, and $10k aint a bad price!

If you need that tower powdercoated, I would talk to Gary and the crew over at DBG Concepts! (www.dbgconcepts.com)

Yeah, I figure 10k would leave me some extra money to add some stuff to it, like some Infiity tower speakers! haha

Just got off the phone with DBG, hopefully i will get the tower powdercoated next week...it has a nasty yellow color right now!  Thanks for the recommendation!

Alright, i found that washout and stuff on the map. Is it free to launch from that ramp by the washout?  and also, can you just cruise under the bridge to get to the bay?

Thanks again for the help!

Yeah its free to launch over there, and yep you can just cruise under the bridge no problem.  Most of that area is 5mph tho - no wake.

glad we could help!

Imondi,

I found the same thing when I weighted my boat. If I filled the fat sacks and put them in the V-drive compartments, I would have a overly-rampy short wake. I found if I filled my 400lb front ballast and placed both of the 400lb fat sacks on the boat floor horizontally (pushed-up against the rear seats), I got the best results.

Of course it will mean you sacrafice floor space, but it depends on what you value the most. Its also very important to pay attention to the placement of your passengers, because they can definitely throw off your wake if your passenger-weight distribution is off.

For wake surfing, I would place a 400lb fat sack in the rear compartment, a 400lb fat sack offset on the floor of the boat, and I would fill my 400lb front ballast. Then i would have all my passengers sit on one side of the boat. This worked very well and my boat produced a great wakesurf wake.

Hope this helps.

Be careful using this one... I've seen tickets handed out here once. I used to launch/rinse my jetskis there until that day  Undecided

Congrats on the new boat!

Kevin:
Thanks, I will definitely give it a try!  I surfed it last night and I had the 400lb sack in the rear compartment and put the other on the seat on the surf side...I was actually pretty impressed with it!  I will try putting the 400s on the floor to see what I get.  I am very happy with the boat so far, though!

My buddy swamped the front last night though, so now I have to figure out why it isn't running right. Probably just a cracked distributor cap or something...

Dylan:
I have heard that too.  I washed out last night up there and there was a couple cops in the parking lot when I was leaving.  They could see me the whole time and didnt do anything so I am hoping that doesnt happen!  I don't really have anywhere else to do it.  That carwash is a b!tch to get into!

imondi,

Are you Vicotr??? And i didn't know about that fine, is it because you were using soap to clean or something that was washed back into the ocean. I would think that there is nothing wrong for hosing the boat down but who knows...

Yeah this is Victor, whats goin on Trent?  The new boards are sweet!  Thanks again!  Once I get the boat dialed, you will have to come out and show us how it's done!

I was just flushing with water, no chemicals or anything. I have been washing out there everytime and still havent heard anything so I will continue to do so.  I will post on here if I figure anything else out!

nice, good to hear you can get away with flushing them out there with no problems.  I might try that with the jet skis next time...
