Thanks for visiting our site to learn more about Wakeboard San Diego.
Wakeboard SD is a site dedicated to San Diego Wakeboarding, and the people who do it. Our members ride everywhere from Mission Bay, El Capitan, Carlsbad Lagoon, San Vicente Reservoir, and the Colorado River. We are an open, friendly wakeboarding community, so join our forums and find a third in San Diego, discuss boards, boats, bindings, share riding tips, and most importantly: meet some new friends who are also interested in San Diego Wakeboarding!
If you aren’t familiar with the site, perhaps it’s a good time to review the history of San Diego’s premiere wakeboarding community. The site was launched back in June of 2008 as a place for San Diego wakeboarders to get together, plan rides, share stories, and get to know each other. It grew quickly as the community, businesses, and city resources were all looking for a solution to unify everyone, and the site happened to meet that need. It grew quickly, reaching over 500 registered forum users who were constantly interacting and bringing in new friends constantly. Between the growing community and Page 1 organic Search Engine rankings, WBSD quickly drew the attention of countless sponsors, both local and nationwide. Many wakeboard-related companies were interested in a website that target such a specific niche market that most other wakeboarding and watersports communities don’t – it is specifically for San Diego based users.
We quickly created a rock solid community of friends, and had countless good times on river trips, lake days, parties, bbq’s and bonfires. Everyone made friends that have lasted for years now. Unfortunately, over the years the site began to lose some traction as the economy hit a low and San Diego suffered the loss of it’s best wakeboarding lake (RIP San Vicente!), and the final nail was put in the Santee Lakes cable park coffin. Excitement started to rise with the news of a cable park right next to the motocross track at Pala, but that too was short lived. In general people didn’t have the extra money to use their boats and buy the latest wakeboarding gear, so the site slowed down to a crawl.
Fast forward to 2016 where the landscape is starting to change again… Finally San Vicente is nearing completion, boating and wakeboarding in San Diego are starting to make a comeback overall…the stage is set for a comeback of epic proportions both for WakeBoardSD and the San Diego wakeboarding scene in general. I always keep an ear to the ground in the SD wakeboarding scene, and it became obvious at the start of the year that this was the perfect time to blow things out of the water (pun intended) all over again. New advances in the open source software technology that the site uses has made some awesome new features available that facilitate the creation of a social network type site for users to interact and share media are going to take WBSD to the next level. Some new, innovative features are planned for the site and will be released soon after the initial site is launched. New riders have joined the WBSD team to help bring you fresh content, spark conversation on the site and through social networks, and to help get things going.
So with that, I hope you check the site out, create an account, and send me an email if you have any questions or comments!
See you on the water 🙂
